Evaluation Brief for Cornwall Festival of Tech
- Introduction
Cornwall’s Festival of Tech is a two-week-long celebration of all things tech, digital and software in Cornwall. Featuring everything from tech demos, expos, talks, workshops, code clubs, networking, collaborations and more! Events will take place across Cornwall with activities for both the local and business communities.
Funded by the Shared Prosperity Project, we hope this festival plays a pivotal role in promoting regional development.
- Purpose of Evaluation
This evaluation aims to measure the festival's impact against our own aims and objectives of the project to build the talent pipeline in Cornwall and to showcase Cornwall as a tech hub but also specific Good Growth Principles and Levelling Up criteria, focusing on cultural, economic, social, and equality aspects.
- Evaluation Objectives
a. Software Cornwall:
- To reach more young people, and showcase tech and digital careers and opportunities
- To showcase Cornwall as a growing tech hub
- To support the established and startup sectors with networking, collaborations, investment opportunities and business opportunities
- To become a commercial project within 20 months
b. Shared Prosperity Funding:
E6: Local Arts, Cultural Heritage, and Creative Activities
Objective: To assess how the festival contributes to and enhances the region's cultural heritage and creative sector.
E8: Promotion of Local Area
Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of the festival in attracting visitors and promoting local exploration.
E9: Volunteering and Social Action
Objective: To measure the impact of volunteering and social action projects initiated or supported by the festival.
3.1 Broader Economic and Equality Impact
BE3: Contribution to CIoS Economy, Environment, Equality
Objective: To analyse the festival’s overall contribution to the economy, environmental sustainability, and equality in CIoS.
EQ8: Levelling-Up of Towns and Neighbourhoods
Objective: To assess the festival's role in enhancing local infrastructure, business growth, and community development across CIoS.
EQ10: Advance Equality of Opportunity
Objective: To evaluate initiatives promoting equality for individuals with protected characteristics.
3.2. Children’s Rights and Impact
EQ12: Impact on Children and UNCRC Rights
Objective: To assess the festival's alignment with UNCRC principles and its impact on children’s rights.

We will have some data readily available for review including: feedback, surveys, attendance records, and case studies.
