We wish to appoint a supplier to provide all specific services associated with the development in relation to web-user experience, function, design development and implementation of the existing Unlocking Potential website as titled above.
Existing Website Development (Project A)
Following a period of ‘user-testing’ areas of the website are now ready for a phase 2 development in order to further fulfil this and other objectives, as stated below.
Objectives & Services
The development of the existing website needs to:
- Introduce the reader to the organisation; Unlocking Potential and its role in the Cornish economy for the past 10+ years.
- Showcase the wide range of ERDF funded services provided by Unlocking Potential: Breakthrough, InFocus, Future Focus and Unlocking Potential Jobs
- Provide flexibility to add new services and plug-ins to the site.
User Journey
Whilst the website offers adequate information about Unlocking Potential and the services provided, its user-experience needs to be improved.
The main aim of the website is to:
- Excite and entice business owners and leaders about the programme offers
- Demonstrate the uniqueness of the UP offer through business case studies
- Demonstrate the UP legacy
- Encourage people to get in touch via the expression of interest form, newsletter sign-up, phone call
- Get people booked to our events
- Get people to the Unlocking Potential Jobs site (1 to 2 clicks maximum)
- Find relevant content depending on customer segment
The developed site needs to adhere to the publicity guidance issued by the funder but also to the new Unlocking Potential brand guidelines.
The site needs to cater for four types of users:
- Business Owners and decision makers
- Jobseekers
- New and early stage businesses
- Partners
Design
The existing WordPress site will be hosted by Cornwall College. Items that have to be kept are the logo, content and the colour coding.
The redesign and development objectives are:
- Support clearer messaging of the Unlocking Potential brand and the services provided
- Restructure navigation bar
- Stronger usage of videos and images
- Support clearer messaging of the 3 Programmes delivered by Unlocking Potential (Breakthrough, InFocus and Future Focus)
- Improve the UX through improved navigation
- To possibly include a search tool and/or diagnostic device to help with finding relevant content
- To review the existing menu and provide solutions
- Create a ‘news hub’ style space for social feeds, blogs, articles and research resources
- Inbuilt Social media share and like functionality
- Improve search engine ranking and as a result increase number of visits to the site
- Increase time spent on site and boost user engagement
- Improve the site’s responsiveness
- With full compliance of industry standards.
- The sites accessibility should be improved on a wide range of devices and browsers including tablet and smart phones and similar technology and accessible to WC3 internet standards.
- Light weight, fast loading and optimized for google (75 or above)

- CMS functionality. Some areas of the site are challenging for the internal team to maintain.
- Streamline templates, and develop pages which are easy to duplicate/add and edit.
- Provide a diagnostic of the current site performance ( EG: SEO, broken links, 404, security) – and formulate a development plan to allow the site to work at its optimum
- Propose an effective event plug-in which meets the following requirements
- Optimised for mobile/device
- Integrated ticket booking system (with accompanying ticket management capabilities)
- Easy to navigate by various themes such as programme type/theme type
- Develop/create new plug-in for dynamic expression of interest forms
